Vintage grandeur meets homely cosiness in this gorgeous hotel. We had a very spacious room, the staff was super friendly and the food was really nice. The breakfast with sekt is a plus and we recommend booking on half board basis, since the three course dinner is really nice.
The outside parking lot and the pool area were at times a bit crowded, but those were minor issues. The town itself is also very nice, with plenty of hiking possibilities in the area. We would definitely love to come back here for another relaxing getaway!

It wasn't our first choice for a hotel in the Harz but we are happy we choose it in the end. It's located on the edge of the spa town next to a mountain river with the mountains on the opposite side. Hotel has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Staff is helpful and friendly. With some minor exceptions of a few staff but that has been handled upon our complaints. The rooms are OK, not modern but not too old. On the edge. Beds are super comfortable and rooms are quiet. The hotel atmosphere is nice, like a mountain hotel. Hotel is family owned and the family work in the hotel. Even doing cleaning. One big negative is no A/C units in the rooms!!||||Breakfast is OK. It's good but nothing fresh or even local. Very generic. But taste is good and even though there's no buffet (because of Corona) you won't leave the table hungry. Facilities like the swimming pools and bar/lounge area are very nice! Bar staff extremely professional and friendly. ||||Parking is free and plenty of space. If you have an electric car like we do and you want to charge it there's a public charging pole around 10 minute walk from the hotel and less than 5 minutes from the city center. Charging is free, parking as well. The hotel offers charging as well but via regular AC/DC in their parking garage for a whopping €15 per day! So extremely slow and quite expensive. This is our second German hotel like that, perhaps German mindset (land of fossil fuel car manufacturers)?||||All in all we definitely recommend this hotel if you like to be pampered and want relaxation. We definitely did.

I gave this five stars mainly based on the wellness centre - most impressive. At least 6 different saunas, 2 indoor pools as well as the usual massage facilities. All included (apart from massage etc) in the price of the room. ||The hotel is situated in the middle of the small town - pleasant to walk around and lots of longer walks available from the hotel into the Harz National park. ||The rooms are alright - looking their age a bit and could do with some refurbishment. A few fittings in the bathroom were poorly maintained. Quite hard mattress but nevertheless comfortable. The personel were efficient and fairly friendly. ||I woouldn't class this as a 5 star hotel, it lacked the feeling of 'exclusivity' that such hotels are keen to foster - it's the little things that were missing/strange, e.g. battery operated candles throughout the hotel! Perhaps having some nuts along with the drinks at the bar; no champagne available. ||Breakfast was good, some pleasant home made salads and cakes/biscuits were a nice touch.

I went to take advantage of their Day-Spa deal (currently for 39 Euros) including breakfast a room for the day and use of the sauna area. The breakfast was delicious, plentiful and had a great variety. Including lovely loose tea selections and champagne. The staff was very nice and lovely everywhere in the hotel. I also liked the sauna area. And the hotel was very clean. Also, there is a little pond and river next to the hotel which is quite nice. The reason why I gave four stars instead of five is that my room was right across from the elevator and that disturbed my attempt to rest in the afternoon. I guess I could have requested a room further away. Good reminder for my next booking. I also got disturbed in the Sauna "quite zone" area. Not by guest because I got lucky, almost no-one was there that day, but from the what I believe might have been the kitchen staff throwing away trash and banging containers. But nothing to complain about. Lovely hotel and staff and worth a visit!

Staff friendly and we had a great weekend. ||Fantastic breakfast and a central location. ||A little disappointed in our massages. Both were 30 mins long but we both felt that they were shorter than 30 mins. We were back in our room at 11:30 and massages were booked for 11am but started late. With dressing time the actual massages were more like 20 mins, which is short for 40€. If we went back I would not book a spa treatment.

Pretty dated resort…
… no double beds - only 2 singles side by side (at least we had been told)
… rooms spacious but no amenities
… Wifi not available in all rooms (ours was out of reach)
… in the morning barking dogs (1.5h) - ok not resort‘s issue
… spa area pretty fragmented

But worst of all, staff did not pay attention to our complaints (we shall forward to management…).

On the good side - breakfast was excellent.

Wonderful and sophisticated wellness retreat in the heart of Germany. Very personal service and a good atmosphere all around. We felt very welcome and enjoyed every minute. Prices and amenities are kept in good balance. A family run, very personal hotel.

On of the most magical experience in our region, dog friendly, great food, nice people, top notch sauna and swimming, wonderful staff, massage, the only thing that would have been better was more VEGAN options, but If you stay here you will not regret it. Truly a nice place
